On Saturday, 5th July, a few of the Search & Rescue and Support members attended the Duncombe Park Steam and Vintage Rally at Helmsley. The Incident Control vehicle and a Land Rover vehicle were present along with the gazebo providing merchandise and information on the team’s work.
Thanks to those who came by the stand for a chat and hopefully you enjoyed the day. Two of our members certainly did, getting to drive a stream engine.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.

CALL-OUT NO. 40
WEDNESDAY 9th JULY (1850hrs)
As the team were preparing for the mid week training session, we received a call from North Yorkshire Police to provide assistance to a person who had a lower limb injury and was unable to walk on high ground above Kepwick. Both Land Rovers were being prepared for the training session , thus a quick deployment was possible with other team members in their own vehicles heading to village of Kepwick.
From the village , group parties were deployed on foot to the casualty site on Atlay Bank. Following medical assessment of the injured person, he was placed in the casualty bag on the rescue stretcher and wheeled to the extraction point just outside Kepwick where an ambulance and Land Rovers were waiting. . From here the casualty was taken to hospital.
We wish the person a full and speedy recovery
