Search and Rescue in Great Ayton

SATURDAY 14th JUNE  (0745hrs)

The team were contacted by North Yorkshire Police  to assist with a search for a missing elderly person in Great Ayton area. All available members met at the base for deployment.

The first crewed Rover left as a “hasty” party to perform some rapid checks of areas close to the last known location of the person.

Not long after the second Rover left the base to their assigned area, the team were notified the person had been found.  Both Rovers diverted to the find location.

On scene, it became apparent the person would require assistance to get to a safe point. The personnel held at the base were deployed to provide further assistance with the extrication. On completion of the extrication, the person was handed over to the ambulance service.

We wish the person a speedy recovery.

16 team members were involved for about 2.5 hours
