It appears, from that article the BBC 5 Live team requested an interview with Gari. This took place, live on the Naga Munchetty show at approx. 1325.(2 hours 25 mins into show)

Gari recorded an interview with Gary Philipson of BBC Tees which was played on Gary’s show this morning. About 20 minutes into the show is the interview.

Gari did have a media free day on his birthday.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
