On the 14th June 2025 Andy Pearson , an operational team member , will be taking part in the Montane Spine MRT Challenger Event. This is an unsupported event from Edale in the Peak District to Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales on the Pennine Way. A distance of 108 miles .
The “Spine” is a tough endurance event and the organisers kindly offer subsidised race entries to members of Mountain Rescue Teams in recognition of the support they provide along the course.

Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
