THURSDAY 10th April (1315hours)
The Team was contacted by North East Ambulance Service( NEAS) to provide assistance to a casualty who was unable to weight bare due to a leg injury. The location was Hanging Stone, above Hutton village..
Team vehicles with personnel were dispatched from the base to the vicinity of the casualty site.
At the site, the person was treated by a team medic with a splint applied. The casualty was then placed on the rescue stretcher, the wheel applied and walked about 200m to a Land Rover
The person was transferred in the Land Rover to a location close to Hutton Village where an ambulance was waiting for transfer to hospital
We wish the person a speedy recovery.
13 team members were involved for 4,5 hours including cleaning of vehicles.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
