One of Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team’s major fundraising events, the Cleveland Survival will take place on Saturday 19th March 2022. Entries are now closed for 2022. The event involves competitors (walkers or runners) navigating their way around a circular route across the North York Moors. The event starts from a different location every year and the entrants can normally select from a short or long about course.
The Survival is a friendly event based on an orienteering course of between 15 and 20 miles, to be completed within the 7 hour time limit (there is only one route in 2022).
This event is widely embraced by the local community as a way of funding a voluntary organisation which benefits the public. As it is now too late to enter for this year please consider the 2023 event when that comes around. Better still, you could enter our Whalebones Walk on Sunday 1st May 2022 (see our Events page listed under Information at the top of this page).
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
