Congratulations to 3 of our team members who have this week successfully completed their ‘Management of Flood and Water Related Incidents’ course. Defra Mod 5.
The course, run by specialist training provider RNE (Rescue North East) was also attended by North East Ambulance Service HART (Hazardous Area Response Team) Paramedics.
The 4 day course developed the skills and tools needed to manage such incidents, with plenty of realistic scenarios to work through to reinforce the learning.
It included a day on the whitewater course at Tees barrage to help it sink in!!!
Many thanks to RNE for running the course and to Gary for capturing the action, but also to the public whose donations provide our charity volunteers with the funding for our equipment and training.
Now let’s just hope none of this needs to be put into action too soon!
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.Join Now
