Rescue – Roseberry Topping

SATURDAY 23RD JULY 2022 (1327 hours)

We were contacted by the North East Ambulance Service as they had received a report of a woman who had sustained a lower leg injury after slipping whilst walking at Roseberry Topping. Both of our Land Rovers were deployed and a number of Team members made their way to a nearby farm RV-point before heading to the casualty site. Meanwhile our call-out officer telephoned the casualty’s partner to verify the location and to discuss her condition.

Not long after that the first group of Team members reached the casualty. After an initial assessment she was provided with pain relief and her ankle was splinted. She was then secured within a vacuum mattress, lifted onto a rescue stretcher and carried approximately 150-metres down to one of our Land Rovers. Once she had been safely secured in the vehicle she was transported to the RV-point and transferred to a waiting ambulance for onward treatment in hospital. We wish her well for a speedy recovery.

Thanks to everyone at Aireyholme Farm with access across their land and for accommodating our vehicles and the ambulance.

Nineteen Cleveland MRT members attended, initially co-ordinated by our call-out officer working from home. The call-out lasted for approximately 2.25-hours including return travel time.
