Captain Cooks Rescue

Monday 8th June 2020. We were contacted by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service at 4.37pm to assist with a 15-year old boy from Nunthorpe who had been injured when falling from his mountain bike in the area of Captain Cook’s monument. Team members were deployed together with one of our Land Rover ambulances. Having sustained a serious injury to his elbow he was treated at the scene by paramedics assisted by Team members including one of our Team doctors. Other Team members were on hand in case he needed to be carried by stretcher. In the event, after initial treatment, he was able to walk to the waiting ambulance assisted by a paramedic and our doctor.

17 Team members (and 2 dealing with the call-out remotely), plus others on standby, were involved in the incident which lasted approximately 1.5 hours. The Team Land Rover was decontaminated upon return to our Base so that it is ready for further call-outs.
